David Bell is regional vice president The Mergis Group®, a division of Spherion Corporation® (NYSE:SFN). The Mergis Group is a leading professional placement firm that specializes in search and recruitment for positions in finance and accounting, engineering and manufacturing, sales and marketing, legal and human resources.
Appointed to his current position in December 2008, Bell has responsibility for the growth of The Mergis Group in the Western and Midwestern U.S. He leads a team of recruiters in 10 Mergis offices across the two regions. Bell also has responsibility for the West and Midwest regional operations of Todays Office Professionals, another Spherion specialty recruiting brand that focuses on administrative and other office professional skill sets.
For the past year, Bell has been serving as a vice president of business development for Spherion’s national recruitment process outsourcing practice. Previously a regional managing director for Spherion’s professional services business, he took the Minneapolis branch and built it into one of the single biggest and most successful branches in the company’s national network. For 12 years, he delivered outstanding staffing solutions to local and national organizations in need of legal, accounting, IT, sales and marketing professionals.
Bell joined Spherion in 1996 as an account executive. He moved into a practice director role in 1997 and became branch manager in 1998. He was promoted to regional managing director in 2002, with responsibility for the Minneapolis and Bloomington (MN) locations.
An exceptional producer, Bell has been honored for his contributions to the organization on multiple occasions, including garnering the company’s highest production award as the Pinnacle Award winner in 2003.
Prior to joining Spherion, Bell worked for five years at a large financial institution in a variety of roles in mortgage banking and retail lending, as well as small business and commercial banking.
Bell graduated with a Bachelor of Science in History and Political Science from the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire. He is a certified personnel consultant and is actively involved in a variety of professional and civic organizations.
