Michael (Mike) Bettick is Regional Senior Vice President Northeast of The Mergis Group^®, a division of Spherion Corporation (NYSE:SFN). The Mergis Group is a leading professional placement firm that specializes in search and recruitment for positions in finance and accounting, engineering and manufacturing, sales and marketing, legal and human resources.

Bettick is an expert accounting and finance consultant with more than 25 years of recruiting and staffing industry experience. He has held a number of positions of increasing responsibility since joining the company in 1989, from branch director and area director to regional vice president of Spherion Professional Services.

In 2007, Bettick led the initiative to launch The Mergis Group as a stand-alone professional recruiting brand for Spherion. Today, he is responsible for professional recruiting operations in the northeast region, which spans 15 offices in some of the company’s most robust markets, including Baltimore, Washington DC, Philadelphia, New York and Boston. In November 2008, he added responsibility for Northeast regional operations of Todays Office Professionals, another Spherion specialty recruiting brand that focuses on administrative and other office professional skill sets.

Prior to Spherion, Bettick served as corporate controller and treasurer for Classic Corporation in Jessup, Maryland. He was previously a controller for Black and Decker in Hampstead, Maryland.

Bettick received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Mt. St. Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, Maryland and his Masters of Business Administration in Finance from Loyola of Baltimore. He has held board positions for the Institute of Management Accountants and the Woodbourne Foundation, a Baltimore area non-profit organization focusing on the city’s underprivileged children.
